Nathan Hale was born on 6 June 1755 in Coventry, Connecticut+.¹
He graduated from Yale College, New Haven, Connecticut, in 1773 graduated with first-class honors.²
He was an officer for the Continental army during the Revolutionary War. In his speech before being hanged after the Battle of Long Island he said 'I only regret that I have but one life to give my county'.²
He died on 22 September 1776 in New York City, New York, at age 21.¹
He was executed by the British as a spy during the Revolutionary War. Possibly the hanging took place at 66th street and 3rd ave.²
