Doris (Peck) Nickse 80 formerly of North Bride Brook Road Niantic, died Monday January 23rd at the Bayview Health Care Center where she has been a patient for the past 4 years. She was born in Wethersfield CT August 14, 1925 daughter of the late Estelle Harlow Peck and Raymond W. Peck II. She had been a resident of Hebron Connecticut prior to moving to Niantic in the early 1980s. Mrs. Nickse was the wife of the late Karl R. Nickse who died in February of 1981.
Mrs. Nickse had been employed at the State Library in Hartford for a number of years, and more recently had worked as a payroll administrator for the Connecticut State Police at Troop F in Westbrook. She is survived by 2 Sons: Karl R. Nickse Jr of Lansing NY and Eric Nickse of Canterbury CT. 2 Daughters: Jo-Ann Brown of Niantic with whom she made her home, and Gail Hantman of Stonington. 2 Brothers: Raymond W. Peck III of Chaplin CT, and Sidney H. Peck of Storrs. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Grace Nickse, and by a sister Leila Gallup and a brother Earl Peck.
A graveside service for Mrs. Nickse will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours, Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic in charge of arrangements. Sidney H. Peck, Sr., 63, of Ashford and loving husband of Jeannine Wilkie-Peck entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday (June 15, 2008), in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Sidney was born on July 30, 1944, in Willimantic the son of the late, Raymond, Sr. and Estelle (Harlow) Peck. Sidney was employed with the Hartford Courant for 20 years and later the Town of Ashford from which he retired after 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his grandson, Christopher Peck. In addition to his wife, Jeannine, he is survived by his son, Sidney Peck, Jr of Ashford; his daughter, Kimberly Gagne and her husband, Charlie of Ashford; a former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Peck; a brother, Raymond ``Red'' Peck, Jr. and his wife, Betty; a grandson, Christopher Peck. Sidney is also survived by six step children, James Wilkie, Charles Wilkie, Jeannnine Corriveau, Robert Wilkie, Joyce Christman, and Mark Wilkie; six step grandchildren, Joshua Corriveau, Mandie Corriveau, Stephanie Wilkie, Robert Wilkie, Jr., Taylor Christman, and Nathaniel Wilkie; several nieces and nephews. Sidney was predeceased by a brother, Earle Peck and two sisters, Doris Nickse and Leila Gallup.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, June 18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike (Route 44) Coventry. A funeral procession will gather on Thursday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Philip-Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford.
