Heber Dean Higginson of Cottonwood Heights, Utah died Thursday, April 28th at the age of 85 of complications of heart disease and pneumonia. Dean, as he was called, was born in Eureka, Utah April 1, 1926.
He grew up in and was a long-time resident of Lehi, Utah. There, he married Marjorie Huffaker, built two homes with his own labor, and raised a family. He was a professional educator, first as an industrial arts instructor and later as a special education instructor specializing in occupational training. In his later years he was also a well-known line dancing instructor. As a young man, he served an LDS mission and was involved in church activities throughout his life.
He is survived by his sister Elma Krantz, sons Merrill, (currently of Huntington Beach, California), Robert (Orem, Utah), and Keith (Columbus, Ohio), and daughter Kathy (Atlanta, Georgia). He has seven living grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Utah, with burial following in the Lehi City Cemetery.
James Lawrence Higginson, 64, died on January 24, 1990.
Born March 30, 1925 in Nephi to James Franklin and Elizabeth Taylor Ostler Higginson. Married Florine Taylor in 1951. Attended schools in Nephi. Veteran World War II. Employed at Nephi Rubber Products for 38 years. Member LDS Church. Member American Legion Post #1. Avid sports fan.
Survived by wife, Nephi; three sons and one daughter, Roger T. and Rodney J. Higginson, Carl O. Higginson, Mrs. Shelly (Nan) Elder, all of Nephi; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Higginson, Winslow, Arizona; Joe Higginson, and T. E. ''Ned'' Higginson, Nephi; sister, Mrs. Beth Oldroyd, Tooele. Preceded in death by a son Larry Craig Higginson. He will be remembered as a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Nephi 2nd Ward Chapel, 222 South 100 East, where friends may call on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday.
Interment: Vine Bluff Cemetery.
