PICHER, Okla. — Opal McClanahan Clanton, 84, San Bernardino, Calif., a former Picher resident, died at 7 a.m. Monday at a San Bernardino hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Clanton was born Jan. 11, 1909, in Commerce. She lived several years in Commerce, Picher and Baxter Springs, Kan., before she moved to California. She and her first husband owned and operated Blondie’s Service Station in Picher for several years.
She married Clarence “Blondie" McClanahan in 1925. He died in 1956. Survivors include a son; a daughter; a brother; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher. The Rev. Harlan Wendler will officiate. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs.
Martha L. Horton passed from this life on Wednesday June 30, 2010 in Miami, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years.
Martha was born December 3, 1930 in Columbus, Kansas to her parents Andrew and Georgia Griggeory. Martha worked as a waitress and cashier for Tuckers Lunch and has resided in Miami since 1990. She lived in California from 1958 until 1990.
On August 9, 1958 Mr. Robert Horton took Miss Martha as his bride in Chula Vista, California.
Martha was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed shopping, sewing and reading. She was known to many as a care taker. Martha also loved to ride the dun buggy with her husband Robert.
Although she is no longer with us, her memory will be kept alive though the family and friends she leaves behind which include: 2 Daughters: Billie and husband Gary Terrell of Miami, Carolyn Ramsrud of Santee, CA., 1 Brother: Marvin and wife Dolores Morris of Wyandotte, Ok, and 1 Sister: Myrtle Henson of Diamond, Mo, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, longtime friends and neighbors. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Neil Morris and Billy Morris and her husband Robert Horton.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel with Father Carl Kerkemyer officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: David Morris, Chris Morris, Tom Morris, Mark Morris, Robert Morris, Jim Hammers.
