Mrs. Osgood Passes Away
Mrs. Sarah Osgood who has been in poor health for the greater part of the year, two weeks ago suffered a stroke of paralysis and gradually passed in to unconsciousness and the end came Tuesday morning. She was one of the old pioneers of this section. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church this afternoon conducted by Rev. Barnhart. Interment in the village cemetery. Sarah Elizabeth Coe was born in Leroy, New York, September 2, 1837, and died at Climax, Michigan, August 23, 1910, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. L. Willison, at the age of 72 years, 11 months, 21 days. At the age of eight years she came to Michigan overland with her parents. Her early life was spent in and around Climax. In 1858 she was united in marriage to George W. Van De Bogart. They resided in Climax excepting a few years spent in Mattawan and Dowagiac where Mr. Van De Bogart died in 1877. The family then moved back to Climax where in 1882 she was united in marriage to Roland Osgood. There were five children by her first marriage, one dying in infancy and one, Miranda, at the age of three years leaving Mrs. C. L. Eldred, Mrs. F. L Willison and George R. Van De Bogart, who, with a brother, Walter M. Coe, and a sister Mrs. Orrie Van De Bogart, are left to mourn her demise. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Climax and, until her health failed, took great interest in church work. Climax Crescent August 25, 1910 page 1.
Thelma A. Walton
HAMPTON FALLS — Thelma A. Walton, 87, of Hampton Falls, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at her home.
She was born April 28, 1922, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of the late William D. and Frances (Longdon) Burditt.
Mrs. Walton was raised in Hampton Falls, and attended local schools.
She was the wife of the late Frank R. Walton, Sr., who predeceased her in 1993. She was also predeceased by her two children, Frank R. Walton Jr., who also died in 1993, and her daughter, Mabel F. Merrill, who died in 1992; and her brother, Charles Burditt.
Family members include her sister, Effie Eaton, of Seabrook; her daughter-in-law, Donna Walton of Hampton; two granddaughters, Robin McIlveen and husband Robert, and Melinda Stanley and husband James; three grandsons, Frank Walton III, Michael Walton and Raymond Merrill; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
WE REMEMBER: She was employed for Western Electric in Andover, Mass., retiring in 1981 with nearly 22 years of service.
She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Seabrook and member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Trinity United Church, Seabrook. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
