Grace (Pereira) Jacobson, 82, of Coventry, beloved wife of George G. Jacobson, II, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Grace was born Feb. 13, 1920 in New Bedford, MA, daughter of the late Gil and Aurore (Berard) Pereira and was a resident of Coventry for the last 51 years. Grace was an interior decorator for G.Fox Stores. After her marriage she served as Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Coventry and later as Clerk for the Coventry Board of Education. She was for many years a 4H leader, sharing her cooking, crocheting, knitting and sewing talents. She was an accomplished cake decorator and was a veracious reader. Besides Grace's husband George of 51 years she is survived by a daughter, Michele Ann Jacobson of Bridgeport; her son and daughter-in-law, George and Donna Jacobson of Coventry; a sister-in-law, Beverly Pereira of East Freetown, MA; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jeanne Jacobson of Coventry; a sister-in-law, Joyce Willey of Vero Beach, FL; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Pereira. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 1600 Main St., Coventry. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Cromwell. Calling hours will be Friday, March 15, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke. (Rt. 44). Carol M. Sargent, age 60 of South Weymouth, died January 25th at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Boston. She graduated Weymouth High School in 1973 and worked for John Hancock in Boston and for MBA in Braintree for many years where she had many loving and supportive friends.
Carol summered in Plymouth for fifty years and enjoyed kayaking and swimming at Big Sandy Pond. She loved to play bingo, travel and follow Boston Sports. She was a very kind, courageous and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her extended family. She will be sorely missed by many.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Sargent, the devoted sister of Jane and her husband Ruory Gregg of Plymouth, William Sargent of Plymouth, Arthur Sliger and his wife Dianne of San Jose, Cal. Carol was Aunty to Kristin, Brian, Stacey and Michael and Great Aunty to Nathaniel, Brady, Hayden, Lisette, Michelle, Bryson and Trenton.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday January 30th 4-8 p.m. at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St., (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. The Funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st at the South Congregational Church, 1075 Washington St., Braintree, MA 02184.
Donations may be made in her name to the Memorial Fund at the So. Congregational Church.
