SARGENT, Roger A.
74, of Carmichael passed away March 18, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born to the late Elmore & Geneva Sargent, Dec. 7, 1939, in Sacramento.
Roger graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1958. He married Lynn in 1961 and spent their 53 years of marriage in the Sacramento area raising their three boys. Roger's passion had always been sports. He played in the first little league in Sacramento and continued his athletic career into high school at McClatchy. Roger spent a significant amount of his time in his young adulthood coaching his three sons and mentoring many children through sports. In his later years he spent most of his time traveling the country to watch his grandson, Brynn, compete in running events. Roger's professional career included the starting and running of several successful businesses. In his 30's & 40's he owned Sargent's Sports Shops in the Sacramento area. Shortly after leaving the sporting goods business he joined his wife Lynn in the running of Star Chambers Inc. until he retired in 2005.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Lynn, three children: Brett, Troy and Rodger all of Sacramento, daughters-in-law Jinee & Michelle, two grandsons Brynn & Khyl and three sisters, Donna Kuhl of Jackson CA, Diane Donahue of Sacramento and Janette Sargent-Hamill of Hawaii. Roger will be missed by his family and many friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Roger's Life on Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM (luncheon buffet) at The Hilton, Sacramento Arden West, 2200 Harvard St., Sacramento, CA 95815 in The Folsom Room.
