Our beloved father, Jack Corbell Provstgaard, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the age of 88.
Dad was born on June 26th, 1924 to Willis and Irene Provstgaard. He was raised in Payson and graduated from Payson High School. Upon returning from service in WWII he met Joyce Nelson. It was love at first sight and they were married on Dec 13, 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.
Dad loved to build things. He spent many hours in his workshop fixing things for friends and family. He constructed the home where he has resided for 54 years. He retired from Geneva after 38 years. He built the Orchard Hill Trailer Park and served on the Payson City Council. The greatest thing he ever built was his family. Mom and Dad had been married for 59years when mother passed away in 2006.
Dad's life was richly blessed when he married Joyce Bingham on Aug. 7, 2007. Her family embraced him as their own. Joyce tenderly cared for Dad through many difficult seasons. Our family is also grateful for his health care professionals that made it possible for him to remain in his own home surrounded by his family.
He has left a void in the hearts of Joyce and his daughters Jeannine (Doug Patten), Sharon (Karl Shuler) and Carlene (the late Randy Ingram) 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by Joyce's daughters, Paula (Steve Haycock) and Claudia (Brian Bouck) 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Nelsen, his parents, his brother Tom Provstgaard, his son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Nov. 30th from 6-8 pm at Walker's Mortuary, 587 South 100 West in Payson or prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:45 on Sat. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Payson 3rd Ward Church, 274 South Main, Payson (West of the Payson City Park). Interment will be in the Payson Cemetery with military rites.
In lieu of flowers take someone you love out for a pineapple shake and when things get tough remember "It will get better".
