- In 1756 he and his brother Thomas divided their father's farm, Thomas retaining the homestead, and Daniel taking "the other house" on the East side of the Cove Road opposite the cemetery. In 1776 he signed to support Congress.

In 1694 he was granted the liberty to spin rope yarn and make rope. He continued making rope. He made the rope "up the Hollow by his shop on the Commons". On 2 Dec 1689 he gave all his Greenwich land to his son John. On 2 Feb ? he sold to his father-in-law Richard Harcurt all his right in Unqua Neck. On 10 May 1699 he gave his son Thomas 30 acres "nigh" to Cold Spring. In 1703 he comveyed land to Samuel and reserved part of the land to continue making rope for himself. He had various parcels of land at Cove Neck, the Cove, Yellow Coats, Laurel Hollow and the head of Dire Hollow.
- He died in 1720 in Oyster Bay, New York, at age ~75.
- In 1869 a monument was erected by the Youngs family to the memory of Thomas Youngs, who first settled in Oyster Bay Cove about 1640.2
