Bernice I. Griffin, 89, of Olivet died Nov. 5, 1996, at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility, Charlotte.

Mrs. Griffin was born Aug. 1, 1907, near Bellevue, the daughter of Charles and Lizzie Johnson. She graduated from Bellevue High School and worked as a school secretary following graduation.

She married Guy Griffin on April 15, 1933. They lived in the Olivet area where she worked for Olivet College for several years, retiring in 1972. She was active in the Rebekah Lodge of Olivet for many years. She attended Ainger Bible Church and later Nashville Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Lee of Olivet, Ion (Mary), and Jon (Elizabeth) all of Charlotte, and Ted (Ann) of Roscommon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, in 1963; four sisters; and one brother.

Services were Nov. 7 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, South Center Michigan Chapter.
