Owen Brown was a wealthy cattle breeder and land speculator who operated a successful tannery in Hudson OH. He was also a stout and outspoken abolitionist and civil servant. Brown was a founder of multiple institutions including the Western Reserve Anti-Slavery Society, Western Reserve college, and the Free Congressional Church. Brown gave speeches advocating the immediate abolition of slavery and facilitated the Underground Railroad.³

Ruth Mills died in 1808 in Hudson, Ohio, at age ~37.¹
She was buried in Old Hudson Township Burying Ground, Hudson, Ohio.²
She appeared on the 1920 US Federal Census of 534 Rankin Road, Millcreek, Erie County, Pennsylvania, enumerated on 5 February 1920, in the household of Harvey H Bates and Minnie Minton Hitchcock, her uncle and aunt.³
