Ann Cromwell Glover Parrott, 95, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home in Newnan.
She was born August 11, 1917 in Newnan, GA to the late Clifford Banks Glover and Rebecca Knight Glover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Thomas Sargent Parrott, Jr., son, Thomas Sargent Parrott III, M.D., sister Carolyn Clarke Glover, and brother Clifford Banks Glover.
Mrs. Parrott was a graduate of Randolph Macon Women's College and was an educator in the Coweta County School System for over 35 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was very faithful and involved through her regular presence in the Joy Sunday School Class and the Women's Mission Union.
She was a member of the Driftwood Garden Club and an avid gardener, following her achievement of the Georgia Master Gardener designation, she shared her knowledge and experience for many years to individuals and groups throughout Georgia. She served as the longtime Secretary of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority.
The funeral is Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 14 West Broad St, Newnan with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Dr. Albert Valdemar Gude died Saturday, December 31, 2005 after a long illness. Dr. Gude, a fourth generation Atlantan, was born in 1922 to Albert Valdemar Gude Sr. and Helen O'Brien Gude. Dr. Gude graduated from The Marist School and Emory University. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
He received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1946, where he was a member of Phi Chi Fraternity. After internship, he served as a Naval Medical Officer, Severn River Naval Command at Annapolis, MD. Following his residency at Emory University Hospital, he entered the private practice of anesthesia at Piedmont Hospital. He was Co-Director of the Anesthesia Service 1954 to 1976 and Chief Anesthesiologist 1976 to 1983. He belonged to the American Board of Anesthesiology and the Piedmont Hospital Clinical Society where he served as President in 1968.
Dr. Gude was a member of The Cathedral of Christ the King, The Buckhead Boys, Burge Plantation and a life member of The Piedmont Driving Club. He enjoyed raising and showing Welsh Corgis and German Shepherds. After retiring from medicine in 1983, Dr. Gude and his wife Donna moved to Big Canoe, Georgia. Dr. Gude was a Charter Secretary of the Jasper Rotary Club in 1989 and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as Chairman of the Health Care Committee, served on the Board of Directors of the Big Canoe Homeowners Association where he served as President from 1992 to 1993. He was a volunteer driver for the Meals On Wheels program in Pickens County. Returning to Atlanta in the late 1990's, he served as a volunteer at Piedmont Hospital and the Cathedral of Christ the King,
Dr. Gude is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Currier Gude; by his daughters, Helen Coulon, Anne Head, Peggy Kessler and her husband Nelson, Donna Barwick and her husband Bill, Doris Lewis and her husband Skip; grandchildren, Maggie Coulon, Kenan Coulon Pickens and her husband Neal, Anne Reagan Head, Jacqueline Head Crisci and her husband Rob, Lauren Head, Tom Kessler, Katie Kessler, Libby Barwick, Jack Barwick, Matthew Robertson, Alexa Robertson, Margaret Helen Robertson and great-grandson, Michael Pickens; nephew, John Rourk and nieces, Denny Conboy and Kitty Buie.
A visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill Wednesday, Jan. 4, 6 pm with a Rosary at 7pm.
