EDINBORO Nancy A. Hanks Griesbaum, 76, of Albion, formerly of Rt 86, Edinboro, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born in Erie on September 19, 1934, the daughter of the late Percy E. and Edith (Milks) Hanks. Nancy was born and raised in Erie, having attended Strong Vincent High School. She was a homemaker most of her life, but had also done office work for Roberts Trucking. Nancy was a born-again Christian who loved the Lord and her church. She enjoyed listening to Christian music, being by the lake, and going out for dinner. She also loved her van, her cat, and especially her family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob Shreve, Bill, Dorman, and Charles Hanks, and a sister, Barbara Szymczak. Also by a son-in-law, Ronald Kramer, and a great grandchild, Thomas Dimon, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Griesbaum whom she married on August 25, 1952, and by seven daughters, Joann (Peter) Wolfram, Ketti Kramer, Jody (Bill) Roberts, Dani (Tony) Romanski, Lisa (Mark) Schlosser, LeAnn(Craig)Sholtis, Sharmon Beers (fiance Mike Seeley), 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until the time of a service at 8:30 p.m. There will be a memorial dinner between viewings at Edinboro Fire Dept. Age 72, of Millcreek Township, son of the late Percy Hanks and Edith Milks Hanks (d 3/1979 Age 71).
He worked as a counselor and supervisor for the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. He retired in 1993 after 28 years. He received his bachelor's degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He was a leader with the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Dorman and William Hanks (d 1/21/2000 age 77); and Robert Shearer* [adopted by his father's sister-in-law]. Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Strupczewski and her husband, Lenny, with whom he lived; a son, Aaron Hanks and his wife, Lisa, of Millcreek; two sisters, Nancy Griesbaum (d 12/29/2010 age 79 in Erie) and her husband, Joe, of Edinboro and Barbara Szymczak of Brocton, N.Y. (d September 9, 2010 age 78 in NY); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
