Age 75, son of the late Percy and Leotha Colvin Hanks. His adoptive parents were Harvey and Ruth Colvin Shearer. Ruth was his mother's sister.

Robert worked at General Electric Co. for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and enjoyed fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents; a daughter, Rosemary McAndrew Fisher; and two brothers, Dorman and Bill Hanks (d 1/21/2000 age 77). Survivors include his wife, Linda L. Maxon Shearer; a daughter, Linda M. Stempka and her husband, John R., of Erie; a son, Robert V. Shearer of Saegertown; a stepson, Ronald Washe of Erie; three sisters, Arlene Root of Erie, Barb Zymczak of Brocton, N.Y., and Nancy Griesbaum of Edinboro; a brother, Charles Hanks of Erie; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
