Mrs. Eldredge is First Myton Influenza Victim

Myton, Dec 21. Mrs. Sarah B. Eldredge died at the family residence Dec. 15 [sic] of Pneumonia, following influenza, being the first victim to that dread disease in Myton.
Mrs. Eldredge was born at Sugar House, Salt Lake City. They had ten children, of whom seven survive. She moved with her husband to Coalville in 1872 and from there to Oakley in the same county in 1901. In Nov. of 1913 she arrived in the Uinta Basin, making her home in Myton, where she won the love and esteem of all who knew her. She was an energetic Red Cross Worker.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Sadie Scholes and Mrs. Matilda Frazier of Park City. Mrs. A. Maxwell of Altona. Leslie E. Eldredge and Albert D. Eldredge of Roosevelt. O.H. Eldredge of Magna and J. Harold of Myton; also her mother, Mrs. C.M. Staker of Butlerville.
A short out-door funeral service was held at the family residence on the 18th inst., under the bishopric. The speakers were Fred N. Musser, Isaac W. Odekirk and Charles J. Wahlquist. Interment was in the Roosevelt Cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Charle J. Wahlquist.
Joseph Harold Eldredge, 86, died June 22, 1977 in a Salt Lake Hospital following surgery.
Born Dec. 19, 1890 Coalville, Utah to Ira Edgar and Sarah Burr Staker Eldredge. Married Erma Salmon, Sept. 3, 1919, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active in LDS Church; Bishop in Myton Ward, 14 years; counselor in Moon Lake Stake Presidency; high councilor in Duchesne Stake; served as Patriarch in Duchesne and Roosevelt Stakes; with his wife, served a two-year mission to the Hawaiian LDS Temple. Retail merchant in the Uintah Basin. First Administrator of Roosevelt LDS Hospital.
Survivors: widow, Salt Lake City; sons and daughters, Mrs. Finley (Orba) Pearce, Yorba Linda, Calif.; Harold, Fair Oaks, Calif.; Buur, Roosevelt; Eva, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lloyd (Erma) Hogan, West Bountiful; Mrs. Gene (Renae) Powell, Anaheim, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services Saturday 2 p.m., Parley’s 7th Ward, 2615 Stringham Avenue, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Friday 6 - 8 p.m., and at the ward Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
