SARGEANT, GERALD H.
Age 69 of Troy RD 3 Wednesday, February 9, 1983. Friends may call at the Vickery Funeral Home Troy, Pa. Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral there Saturday at 11 am with the Rev. Frank Monroe. Burial in Wetona Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Wetona United Methodist Church Building Fund. Survived by wife Mara Sargeant, one daughter Mrs. Andrew (Virginia) Bayiates of Dedham, MA; Sons Paul E. Sargeant and Alan T. Sargeant both of RD 3 Troy. Sisters Mrs. Henry (Jennie) Andrus RD 2 Ulster, Mrs. Harold (Leora) Wilston of Wellsboro, PA. One brother Harold Sargeant of San Antonio, TX; 9 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, several aunts and one uncle. He was a member of the Wetona United Methodist Church, the Big Pond Lions Club, Valley Grange #1319, Springfield Township Supervisor and retired dairy farmer.
H. Mara (Tracy) Sargeant Wolfe, age 94, of Springfield Township, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at home with her loving family at her side. Mara was born March 28, 1918 in Smithfield, daughter of the late Harry U. and Altheda (Rice) Tracy. She attended Smithfield High School through 11th grade and graduated from Troy High School Class of 1936. Mara was predeceased by her two husbands Gerald H. Sargeant and Maurice D. Wolfe. Mara worked at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Sayre, but she found great joy in being a farm wife, mother and grandmother. Her memberships included the Faith Community (Wetona) United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for many years and sang in the choir. In recent years she played the harmonica for the church offertory and playing the violin. She was also a member of the Wetona United Methodist Women and the Valley Grange No. 1319. Her interests also included reading, her large personal library, gardening, flowers, sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery.
Survivors include her children, Paul E. and Judith Sargeant of Troy, Virginia M. and Andrew Bayiates of Dedham, Mass., and Alan T. and Sharon Sargeant of Troy; grandchildren Caroline and Adam Hall, Heather and Stephen Moody, Brenda and Michael Merloe, Christine and William Stec, John and Julie Bayiates, Edward and Elisa Bayiates, Thomas Bayiates, Jason and Marilyn Sargeant, Richard Sargeant, great-grandchildren, Caytlyn and Lucas Nichols, Grace, Eli and Maya Moody, Alexis and Dylan Stec, Benjamin, Grace and Ryan Bayiates, Zachari and Brady Sargeant, and Ethan Sargeant and Adaline Hall; a special niece, Carol Moser; and 12 other nieces and nephews.
Mara was predeceased by her parents, two husbands, sisters Josephine (Tracy) Moser and Ida Jeanne (Tracy) Ford, and half-sisters Elsie (Fuller) Nichols and Loretta (Fuller) Fay.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 1093 West Main St., Troy. Mara's funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Faith Community (Wetona) United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Noggle officiating. Interment will be in Wetona Cemetery. Memorials in her memory may be sent to Faith Community (Wetona) United Methodist Church, 1204 Redington Ave., Troy, PA 16947.
