Bio by BL Hughes: George W. Andrews, a veteran of the Civil War in Co. G, 17th N.H. Vol., was buried in Green Grove Cemetery in the family lot on Thursday afternoon. Services were held at the home of his sister, Mrs. O.T. Craig by Rev. T.S. Tyng, who also read the committal service at the grave. Floral tributes were from relatives and from O.W. Keyes Post G.A.R.
Mr. Andrews was the son of Earley G. and Nancy Allard Andrews, and was born in Center Harbor on June 20, 1844 but had lived in the towns of Holderness and Ashland most of his life.
G.A.R. burial service was conducted by a joint delegation from O.W. Keyes Post of Ashland and Penniman Post of Plymouth. Comrade Charles Sanborn, commander, and Comrade Alvin Burleigh, chaplain. Thomas P. Cheney Camp, S. of V. held their services at the grave.
Mrs. Harriet Orton was soloist at the home. Robert Bruce in command of the Son of Veterans escort and Jesse Sanborn, chaplain.
The bearers were Robert Bruce, Joseph Roberts, O.H. Richards, Elmer Hubbard, Jesse Sanborn and Ralph Tupper. E.G. Gammons was in charge ad undertaker.
He worked for a number of years for Draper-Maynard Company when their shops were in Ashland. He was but seventeen when he enlisted in the famous 12th N.H. Vol. and was taken prisoner at Chancellorsville, May 3, 1863, was exchanged, wounded at Cold Harbor June 3, 1864 and mustered out June 21, 1865.
He leaves two sisters, Mrs Hattie Whitten of Exeter and Ashland, Mrs. O.T. Craig of Ashland, two daughters, Mrs. Inez Gilmore and Miss Lillian Andrews of Concord, two grandchildren, Prof Raymond Gilmore of New Hampton and Harold Gilmore of Chichester, besides two great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.
Present at the funeral form out of town were Mrs. Inez Gilmore and Miss E. Miller of Dunbarton, Charles E. Miller of Bow and Ora T. Craig of Manchester. The Plymouth Record, May 4, 1918.
George died of cerebral hemorrhage with arteriosclerosis as a contributing cause.1

HAMPTON -- Former school supt. Roy Gillmore, 80, of 283 North Shore Blvd, died Jan. 31 at the Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Exeter. He was the widower of Anna Hopkins Gillmore and was born in Lynn, Mass. Nov. 2, 1890, the son of Edwin and Inez Andrews Gillmore. He graduated from Colby College, Waterville, Maine and received his masters at Bates University in Lewiston, Maine.
Mr. Gillmore was a 50-year member of Union Lodge, F & AM of Bristol; a member of St. James F & AM of Hampton; a member of Orient Chapter OES of Exeter; and Oceanside Grange of Hampton, as well as past master of Charlestown Grange. He was the first president of the Hampton Kiwanis Club and was president of the state PTA. He was founder of the Exeter Area Golden Age Club. He was also trustee the New Hampton School for Boys for many years. Mr. Gillmore was superintendent of schools in Hampton for more than 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter of Hampton and six grandchildren.
Burial will be in the family lot in Homeland Cemetery in Bristol in the spring.

LAKELAND - Helen M. Gillmore, of the Estates at Carpenters retirement community, died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, of natural causes. She was 93.
Born in Springfield, Mass., in 1918, Mrs. Gillmore was the oldest of four children of Robert K. Tyre, a baker, and Elizabeth Duncan Tyre, both of whom were born in Scotland. Mrs. Gillmore's family moved to North Brookfield, Mass., in 1932, when her father bought a bakery there, and she graduated from North Brookfield High School.
Mrs. Gillmore moved to New Hampshire after her marriage to Vern W. Gillmore, and the couple lived in Claremont for nearly 50 years. She was a clerk and bookkeeper at Valliere's Rexall Pharmacy, later Kruger Pharmacy, until her retirement. Mrs. Gillmore was president of the New Hampshire Business and Professional Women's clubs. She and her husband were matron and patron of Woodman Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in Claremont.
Her husband died in 2001. She is survived by her son, Robert, and his fiancee', Eileen Oktavec, of Goffstown, N.H., and Montgomery, Vt.
The funeral service will be at the Estates at Carpenters, 1001 Carpenters Way, on Monday, Feb. 6, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, Mass., 02114.3
