- He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Middletown, Massachusetts. The gravestone was still legible in 1974, after 300 years: Here lyeth the body of Insine William Ward aged about 58 years who died March 28, 1690.3
- Inventory of his estate was taken estimated May 1690 It included about 1,000 acres of land and four pages of personal effects. Included in the inventory were nine coats, six waist coats, four pairs of gloves, various boots, shoes and spatter-lashes. Also listed were two Bibles.3

It is known from probate records that Phebe Fenner's (daughter of Arthur) married name was Ward. The argument is made by Holman in "The Fenner, Browne, and Tully Ancestry" that the man with the last name of Ward that Phebe Fenner married is William Ward. The name Fenner appears in descendants of William and Phebe Ward.......The reason for such confusion who who Phebe Fenner really was.5
