  • Samuel Denny was born in 1689 in Coombs Parish, Suffolk, England.1
  • He immigrated to America on 20 July 1717 with his sister Deborahl. They sailed from Hull England, arriving in Boston.2
  • He married Sarah (née unknown) Robinson estimated 1725.3
  • He married Rachel Loring on 15 August 1751 in North Yarmouth, Maine.4
  • He died on 2 June 1772 at age ~83.
  • He settled in partnership with Mr. Robinson, from the same parish he belonged to in Eng, and who sailed to America with him, at the mouth of the Kennebec river on the island named Arrowstick, obtaining the title of the land from Gov. Hutchinson, then Govenor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. They built a garrison using stone and brick. The bricks came from Holland. Then they built a windmill to grind corn, which was the first and only grist-mill of the kind built in those times in that section of the country. After the decease of Mr. Robinson, Samuel married his widow.

    After 1752 he was appointed surveyer of the district of maine an office he held until 1759, when he was appointed Major and Aide-de-Camp to Gen Wolfe, who commenced the far-famed siege of Quebec, and fought by the side of the general on the plains of Abraham. After the provincial war, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, and President of the Court of Sessions for Lincoln County, which comprised all that section of country east of Cumberland County.5
