He was one of the original proprietors of Farmington about 1640. Jacobus calls him "an unknown", names the children and notes: "This man was not the Mr. William Hickock who had a lot in the original New Haven division of land, but who apparently never came over and was living in London at a considerably later date". The Hickock genealogy calls him William.¹
