Joseph Grace, son of Joseph and Mara (Sargent) Grace, was born at West Springfield, Mass. He married Deborah, daughter of Austin Leonard. In 1807, he removed to Springfield, settling near Leona. He came with an ox-team, also bringing a cow, whose milk provided food for the children on the way.
A few years later he was joined by his brothers, George and William, aged mother and sisters, Polly (Mrs. Samuel Sargent) and Betsy (Mrs. Elisha Fanning). He died, 1825, aged forty-three years. His children were Ambrose, James Upham, Maria (Mrs. David M. Brooks), Betsey (Mrs. Chauncey Brooks), Jane (Mrs. Lewis Beach) and Joseph L.
GRACE Ansil-One of Wetona’s oldest and best known men, died in his home last Tuesday morning, January 14, 1948, at the age of 90. He was a life long resident of Wetona, the Grace farm commanding a wonderful view of that pleasant community. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Berrytown and was active in its affairs during his younger years. He is survived by his wife, Lora Harkness Grace, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from his late home Thursday at 2 pm. Rev. Owen Barrett and Rev. Edward Howe officiating with burial in Wetona Cemetery.
GRACE Ansil G-90, of Wetona, Pa. passed away at his home early Tuesday morning. (1948) He is survived by his wife, Lora Harkness Grace, and many nieces and nephews. The body is at the Soper funeral home in Troy and will be taken to the family home Wednesday morning where services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Wetona Cemetery with Rev. Edward Howe officiating. Mr. Grace was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Berrytown and a lifelong resident of Wetona.
