Keene produced gas chromatography instruments with his brother-in-law, Ken Wilkins, at Wilkins Instrument and Research. He also invented a stationary bicycle called the "Lifecycle". In addition, he owned a 65-acre vineyard in California's Napa Valley and the Robert Mondavi winery used its grapes to produce high quality Chardonnay wine.
The Keene P Dimick Award for Chromatography is presented annually for noteworthy accomplishments in the area of gas and supercritical fluid chromatography.3

1923 ~ 2009
Robert M. Zundel, 85, passed away July 23, 2009 at his home in Riverton, Utah surrounded by his family after a struggle with blood cancer. He was born October 26, 1923 in Plymouth, Utah to Abraham Eberhart and Sarah Elizabeth Welling Zundel. He was the youngest of 11 children. He attended school In Plymouth and graduated from Bear River High School, then Utah State University where he received a Bachelor and Masters Degree. He served in the Navy as a Pilot on aircraft carriers in World War II. He filled a mission for the church in the Western States.
He married Afton Passey on October 3, 1955 in the Logan Temple. Robert was employed by the Federal Government, Bureau of Land Management. They lived in Salt Lake City; Arlington, Virginia; Reno, Nevada; Bountiful, Utah; Monticello, Utah; Cedar City, Utah and Riverton, Utah.
He loved his Savior and strove diligently all his life to follow him. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including Bishop, Stake Mission President, and Temple ordinance worker for 12 years in the St. George and Jordan River Temples. He and his wife served a mission in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission.
They are the parents of seven children: Jeanette (Steve) Maughan, Rob (Deb), Liz (Jim) Knight, Roger (Patty), Alan (Bonnie), Elaine (Matt) Fuller, and Jenifer (Chris) Ramsdell.
They now have 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings, Hart, Lew, Welling, Leone Hunsaker, Rozel, Jack, Mike, Eldon, Rally and Julia.
All who knew Bob loved him and will miss him sorely, but he will have a happy reunion with his family who have preceded him.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 1st, 2009 at 12:00 at Tithing Hill Chapel, 1208 West 12400 South in Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:44 a.m.
