Dorothy (Elliott) Ricker, 93, of 1 Arlington St., died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the Burbank Rehab Center in Fitchburg.
Mrs. Ricker was born in Fitchburg on Dec. 23, 1914, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Ann (Hackett) Elliott, graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1932 and had lived in Leominster for over 70 years.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and an active member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster for over 60 years, where she sang in the church choir. She volunteered at Leominster Hospital for 43 years and had worked at the voting polls in Ward 5 for many years. Dorothy helped start the PTA at the former George Street School in Leominster. She was an avid sports fan and bridge player.
Mrs. Ricker is survived by her daughter, Sally R. Flagg and her husband, Philip, of West Dennis; two granddaughters, Kathlyn F. Fini and her husband, James, of Natick and Heidi M. Flagg of Natick; two great-grandchildren, Marcus Fini and Emma Fini both of Natick; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Thornton M. Ricker, in 1995; her son, Wesley A. Ricker in 2006; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ricker in 2004; her grandson, Philip J. Flagg in 1992; her brother, Vincent Elliott in 2001; and her sister, Vertine McKillop in 1990.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. in Pilgrim Congregational Church, 26 West St., Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours are Thursday, Nov. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Philip J.
