Mary Alice Norman, 90, Phillips, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday July 12, 2003 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips, Wisconsin.
She was born at Chicago, Illinois on August 5, 1912 to Herbert Putnam and Hattie May (Palmer) Sargent. She graduated from Bowen High School and attended Moser Business College in Chicago. She riveted in an airplane factory during WWII, married to Clarence M. Norman in 1945 and retired to Phillips after working for 20 years as an executive secretary in a medical office in downtown Chicago.
Mary Alice was the 1st. Grand Worthy Advisor of Illinois Order of the Rainbow Girls in 1932-33 and a 73 year member Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and PTA president. Member of the First Baptist Church, Phillips, AARP of Prentice, Golden Agers and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ since the age of 12.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Norman in 1992; sister Harriet Honchell; and daughter-in-law, Delores Norman.
She is survived by sons Clarence W. Norman, McHenry, IL and Richard (Celeste) Norman, Chicago, IL, and daughters Nancy (Tom) Aldridge, Proctor, MN., and Carol (Stan) Szarowicz, Phillips (Soo Lake). Nine grandchildren, Chris, Charlene, Lisa, David, Sarah, Karen, Scott, Amy, and Laura and two great-grandchildren Leo and Alyssa, and a sister-in-law Margaret Jacobs, brother-in-law Fred Honchell, 1 niece and 3 nephews.
There will be a Memorial Service at the First Baptist Church, Phillips, at 2:00 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1:00 on Saturday, July 26, 2003. Internment in Two Lakes Cemetery, Phillips, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Duroy Terrace or Regency House, Phillips, Wisconsin.

Clarence Merryman Norman, Phillips died at his home Thursday, September 24, 1992, at the age of 89. Born Clarence Linwood Merryman,Jr. in Phoebus, Virginia to Clarence Linwood Merryman Sr. and Sallie Pinkston (Hearn) Merryman on December 31, 1902, but changed his name when his mother Sallie married Rev. William Norman. Clarence worked for Standard Oil in Chicago, IL. for over 30 years. He married Mary Alice Sargent in Chicago, Illinois in 1945. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War ll.
In 1980 they retired to Phillip , WI. Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church, of the Phillips Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 225 where he held the position of tiler, of the Park Falls OES Chapter 187, of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Chicago, and of the Medinah Temple of Chicago. Funeral services were held Monday, September 28th, at 11 a.m. at the Heindl Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Ruehlow officiating.
Mr. Norman is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; four children, Clarence W. (Delores), McHenry, Illinois, Nancy (Thomas) Aldridge, Proctor, Minnesota, Richard S. (Celeste), Chicago, Illinois, and Carol (Stanley) Szarowicz, Catawba. Nine grandchildren, a great-grandson, and by two sisters; Virginia Medlar, Spencer, Iowa, and Margaret Jacobs, Homestead, Florida.

Stanley Albert Szarowicz, 64, passed away at his home on Soo Lake on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, while under the care of his family and Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 10, 1948, the son of Stanley John and Dolores (Bialkowski) Szarowicz. He attended Carl Schurz High School. He was married to Carol Norman in the North Shore Baptist Church in Chicago on January 18, 1969. He was employed by Illinois Tile, worked along side his Uncle Ed Bialkowski, and then Trostrude Tile in Chicago from 1968 to 1974. In 1974 he and Carol purchased a dairy farm in the Village of Catawba, which they operated for 26 years. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Catawba, of the Soo Lake Association, served as Catawba Village Trustee, was a 20-year member of the Catawba/Harmony Fire Department where he served as Chief for three years, and served on the board of the Rusk County Farmers Union CO-OP. After retiring from the farm he and Carol moved to their home on Soo Lake. He then worked part time at Copps in Phillips, and continued to install ceramic tile until 2011. He loved fishing with his "fishing buddy", granddaughter Emma, and watching the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by Carol, his wife of 44 years; by one son, Scott (Erika Lahnala), Marathon; by two daughters, Amy Szarowicz, DePere, WI, and Laura Szarowicz, Green Bay; by one granddaughter, Emma Marie Szarowicz, Green Bay, and by one grandson, Keenan Rood, Marathon, and by 5 nieces; Christine, Charlene, Lisa, Sarah, Karen and 1 nephew David. He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley J. & Dolores Szarowicz, and Godparents Dorothy Bialkowski and Walter Marut.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. On Saturday, June 22, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba with Pastor Jody Becker officiating. Inturnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery in Catawba. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips on Friday, June 21, after 4 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family suggests that memorials take the form of an offering to:
Hope Lodge, 611 W. Doege St., Marshfield, or to
the Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba.
