Charlotte H. Sharp, 83, of Nuangola, PA., died Saturday evening, June 20, 2009 at home. She was the wife of the late Reginald H. Sharp, who died June 10, 1997. They were married on June 18, 1948.
Born April 26, 1926 in Portsmouth, NH., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Jessie (Coleman) Hammond.
She was a 1943 graduate of Portsmouth High School and a 1947 graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Portsmouth and Exeter New Hampshire hospitals. In 1977, she graduated from New England College in Henniker, NH with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received her Learning Disabilities teaching certification soon after. She was a Title I Aide at Little Harbour Elementary and Hampton Junior High School in Hampton, NH, as well as, a Learning Disabilities Teacher for grade 3 and 4 at the Marston School in Hampton, NH in the 1990's until she retired.
She belonged to the PTA at Newfields, NH Elementary School for many years and held all offices and committee chair positions in that organization. She was the Mental Health Chair for the New Hampshire State PTA Organization. During the 1960's, she was a member of and active contributor to the Exeter, New Hampshire High School Athletics Boosters Club. During her life, she was very much involved in the United Church of Christ, where she spent more than 35 years teaching Church school. She was also a Christian Education Director at the Community Church in Newfields, NH and the Congregational Church in Exeter, NH. A camp counselor for many years at the New Hampshire UCC Conference Center in Pembroke, NH and served as the Christian Education Committee Chair for Junior High Programs at New Hampshire UCC.
She is survived by one daughter: Eileen Sharp and partner Gay Meyers of Nuangola, PA., with whom she resided for the past 8 1/2 years.; one son: Dwight Sharp and former wife Ellen of Exeter, NH.; five grandchildren: Mandi (Sharp) Postles and husband Jason of Breckenridge, CO.; Denis Sharp of East Kingston, NH.; Dr. Lee (Meyers) Pollaro and husband Vincent of Wellsboro, PA.; Dr. Jessica Mehring of Bethlehem, PA. and Bridget Mehring of Wilkes-Barre, PA.; three great grandchildren: Blake and Hayden Postles and Ethan Pollaro; two sisters: Harriett Bailey of Concord, NH. and Ruth Knox and husband Douglas of Newville , PA.; a sister-in-law: Charlene Smith and husband Daniel of Newfields, NH.; a brother-in-law: Dana Sharp and wife Joan of Palm Harbor, FL.; A number of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Mount Zion United Church of Christ, Lily Lake Road, Slocum, PA., with Pastors Robert Thomas and William Mackey-Wisor, officiating. Friends called at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
A second memorial service was held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Newington Congregational Church, 316 Nimble Hill Road, Newington, NH., with Rev. Arthur Dunham and Rev. Thomas Barker, pastor, officiating. Friends called at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Interment, Newington Church Cemetery, Newington, NH.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, Carbondale, PA.

Reginald Sharp
NEWFIELDS - Reginald "Reggie" H. Sharp, 71, of Pleasant Street, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997 at the Exeter Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1925 in Castle Hill, Maine, he was the son of the late Merle B. and Annis (Brown) Sharp. He resided in Newfields for the past 64 years.
He was a 1943 graduate of Portsmouth High School, and a 1950 graduate of the Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Reggie was a radar and sonar technical engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1980.
Over half of his lifetime, he farmed and raised animals. For many years, he and his son Dwight went to fairs with their pulling teams, under the name D&R Sharp. Reggie and his family took a pulling team of horses and participated in Ronald Regan's presidential parade.
In 1983, he founded Manden Construction Co., Inc.
Active in the town of Newfields, he was a former member of the Planning Board, Water Commission, and was chairman of the Newfields 125th Anniversary celebration.
He was a 22-year member of the Frank E. Booma American Legion Post No. 6 in Portsmouth, and a member of the New Market Militia.
A former member of the Newfields Community Church, he became an active member of the Newmarket Community Church and at the time of his death, he was a member of the board of trustees. He participated in all church activities, including the Christmas Fair.
Reggie was a member and past master of the Rising Star Lodge No. ?7 F and AM in Newmarket, and this past winter, he was presented with a ?0-year pin. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Nashua, Bektash Temple AAONMS of Concord, and the General William Whipple Military Lodge of New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte (Hammond) Sharp of Newfields, whom he married on June 18, 1948; a son, Dwight M. Sharp of Exeter; a daughter, Eileen M. Sharp of Nuangola, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Ellen M. Sharp of Exeter; two grandchildren, Mandi L. Sharp and Denis Sharp, both of Exeter; a brother, Dana W. Sharp of Stratham, a sister, Charlene Sharp of Newfields; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Vivian Sharp, Frederic Sharp, and Winston Sharp.

Harriett Hammond Bailey

Concord, NH – Our beloved mother and grandmother, Harriett Hammond Bailey, 90, died Wednesday April 25, 2018.
Born on Sept. 25, 1927, in Portsmouth, NH, Harriett was the daughter of Roscoe D. and Jessie (Coleman) Hammond. She received her B.S. from the University of New Hampshire in 1949 and worked as a Medical Technologist at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, before retiring to Concord, NH, in 1993. A former member of the United Parish in Brookline, MA, she became an active member of the First Congregational Church in Concord, NH, after she retired.
Harriett enjoyed gardening, canning preserves, traveling to historic places, spinning wool and knitting. She was a member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society, Society for Preservation of New England Antiquities, and the New Hampshire Spinners and Dyers Guild. She was an independent woman who lived life on her own terms.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Bailey-Sumber, husband Howard Sumber, and granddaughter Kayleigh; 3 nieces, 2 nephews and 4 cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters and their husbands, Charlotte and Reginald Sharp, and Ruth and Douglas Knox.
No services will be held. Private burial will be in the Newington Cemetery, Newington, NH.
