Biography

John Brockett was born in 1609 in England.
In the spring of 1638 he went to Quinnipiac with Rev John Davenport. He was one of the leading men of this company. He had a fine reputation as civil engineer and surveyor and laid out the green in New Haven.
John Brockett was a surveyor and a surgeon.
John lived in New Haven, Connecticut.
In 1641 He probably returned to England to marry, and his wife did not probably arrive in America until 1644/45.
In 1654 He served as surgeon attending soldiers who were to cooperate with the fleet sent by Cromwell against the hostile intentions of the Dutch on the Hudson River. He served on many committees regarding Indian and Colonial matters. He was surgeon to CT troops during King Philip's War.
In 1667 He had a reputation as civil engineer and surveyor and also was surveyor for Elizabeth NJ where he lived from 1667 to 1670.
In 1669 In 1669 he and others established Wallingford. He became a leading man there and held many public offices and represented the town in the General Assembly for many years.
On 24 May 1681 An Indian deed, 24 May 1681 have John and three others land in Wallingford (2 miles wide).
John lived in Wallingford, Connecticut.
He died on 12 March 1689/90 in Wallingford, Connecticut, at age ~81.
***Research Conclusion: John Brockett has been identified (online) as a passenger on the ship Hector. This is false and cannot be proven. Only 5 passengers were listed in contemporary accounts: Mr Davenport (minister), Mr Eaton (merchant), Mr Hopkins (merchant), Lord Ley, and an unnamed minister.¹
