Marian Loveless Douglas
1928 ~ 2011
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marian Loveless Douglas, passed away peacefully early the morning of August 26, 2011. Marian lived a full life, one filled with service. She was born on June 18, 1928 in Payson, Utah to Grace Barnett and Elwood Loveless, one of 4 children. She attended schools in Payson and graduated from Payson High School. Shortly thereafter she began to work at Payson Hospital as a nurses' aide. Not long after working with her future mother-in-law at Payson Hospital, she met a handsome young sailor, Gordon D. Douglas, just returned home from duty. They married on September 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple; and then settled in Spanish Fork where they raised their 4 children.
Marian had an active social life, socializing with other couples in town and enjoying her association with them. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions including Relief Society President where she enjoyed serving others. She also supported her husband in every position he was called to serve in the Church.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was very supportive of her grandchildren in all they did. She attended all their ball games, piano recitals, and all else her grandkids were involved in. The grandkids who lived far away each had a special relationship with her also and each felt that they were her "favorite". She was always a "lady" and tried to teach each of her granddaughters manners, politeness, and cleanliness. She truly influenced each life that she touched for good.
She endured ill-health over the past 10 years with grace. She had a positive attitude in all she did. She always looked at the bright side and was a great example to all who cared for her despite the many challenges she faced in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 1 sister; her loving husband Gordon, and her son Gary. She is survived by her children: Darrell (Kathy), Brian (Colleen), Cindy Nalder, and daughter-in-law Linda Douglas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Connie (John) Robison; and numerous in-laws and friends whom she loved and who loved her.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Spanish Fork River Stake Center, 452 West 550 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends may call at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, on Monday night from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. or Tuesday morning at the church 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.
We as family and friends will never forget the example she was to us; we hope to live our lives even in part as well as she did. We look forward to the day when we will see her again.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Air Assisted Living and A+ Home Health Care, the aides too numerous to mention, Chris Braithwaite, RN and other loving nurses who cared for her.
