Son of Raymond Powell Ensign [August 4, 1883, River Falls, Wisconsin - September 1969, Monterey, Massachusetts] [son of Frank D. Ensign and Harriet Newell (Powell) Ensign] and Caroline (Henderson) Ensign.
Caroline (Henderson) Ensign's sister, Eva Minerva (Henderson) Ensign, had been the first wife of Raymond Powell Ensign and the mother of Robert's brother Dean Henderson Ensign [March 6, 1910, Brooklyn, New York - April 27, 2000, Salisbury, Connecticut, 90 years old]. Eva had died the day Dean was born.

Robert H. Ensign
CHEBEAGUE ISLAND - Robert H. Ensign, 84, died of cancer Tuesday at his home. He was born in New York City, a son of Raymond and Caroline Ensign. He was a graduate of Brown University.
He lived in New York for much of his adult life, working as a principal in the industrial design firm of Walter Dorwin Teague. He was an avid skier and amateur pilot.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Virginia Toohey Ensign; two sons, Robert T. of Oswego Lake, Ore., and Albie Maurice of Florida; a daughter, Margaret Robards of Suffield, Conn.; three stepdaughters, Norah T. Alper of Brookline, Mass., Margaret T. Bossi of Dennis, Mass., and Mary T. Cushman of Chebeague Island; a brother, Dean; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at the Chebeague Island Methodist Church. Burial will be private.
