Ouida Booth Downer
Memorial services for Mrs. Ouida Booth Downer, 82, retired school teacher of Acona, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 21 at Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington. Rev. Lou Knichton was the officiating minister. Burial was in the Acona Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Downer died of respiratory failure on Friday, February 19 at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.
A native of Holmes County, Mrs. Downer was a member of Acona Methodist Church and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, class of 1936. She taught school at the Acona Grade School, where she also served as principal.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Acona Methodist Church.

Charlie Leland Downer
Funeral Services for Charlie Leland Downer, 90, of the Acona community, north of Lexington, was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27 at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington. Rev. J.O. chell and Rev. Michael O’Brien officiated with interment in the Acona Cemetery
Mr. Downer a native of Holmes County and a retired farmer, died Friday, February 26 at the Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi in 1918, Mr. Downer was the first inductee into the Academic Hall of Fame at Ole Miss. He was a veteran of World I and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ouida Booth Downer of Lexington; nephews; and a number of cs.
Pallbearers were Earl Daniel, on Parrish, Bob Peacock, Pat Barrett, Jr., Boswell Peacock and ie Peacock. The family request memorials be made to the Acona United Methodist Church, or the Acona cemetery Association.

Edith McRae Goudelock
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith McRae Goudelock, 96, of Saint Charles, Arkansas, were held in Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2. Officiating minister was Rev. Richard Mauldin. Burial was in Acona Cemetery, near Lexington.
Mrs. Goudelock died of heart failure Monday, October 31 at Dewitt City Hospital in Dewitt, Arkansas.
A native of Holmes County, she was a homemaker and a Methodist. She was a former resident of the Acona Community.
Survivors include: sons, Luther Alvie Goudelock of Bella Vista, Ark., James Goudelock of Houston, Texas, William McRae Goudelock of Bixby, Okla., and Chester N. Goudelock of St. Charles. Ark.; sister, Ethel McRae Bailey of Madison: brother, John Leonidas McRae of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were William McRae Goudelock, William McRae Goudelock, Jr., Alvie Goudelock, James Goudelock, Chester Goudelock and Tom Fisher.

James W. McRae, 71 of Jackson died Monday afternoon, September 23 at the Baptist Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Wright & Ferguson. Interment was in Lakewood Memorial Park.
A native of Acona, he had been a resident of Jackson for 30 years. He was a member of Galloway United Methodist Church. He was an auto and heavy equipment mechanic, for eight years he was employed at the Union Depot Services Station, and 15 with the Jackson Ready Mix Company having retired in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Davenport of Fayette; four daughters, Mrs. Boswell (Dorothy) Peacock of Lexington, Mrs. W.M. (Sue Belle) Guyton of Bossier City, La., Miss Betty Rose McRae of Monroe, La.; three sisters, Mrs. W.V. (Ethel) Bailey of Jackson, Mrs. Alfred (Eloise) ??tington of Santa Monica Calif., Mrs. Alvie (Edith) Goudelo?? of Lexington; one brother J. L. McRae of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

William McRae
Funeral services for William Maurice McRae, 58, nursing home attendant, were held Sunday at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Howard Allen officiating. Burial was in Acona Cemetery.
Mr. McRae died Friday at Baptist Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient a week.
A native of Holmes County, he was the son of the late James Wright McRae and Lota O’Brian. He was a member of Acona Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Louis King of Scott; two sisters, Mrs. W. V. Bailey of Jackson, Mrs. L.A. Goudelock of Lexington, and Mrs. Louise Huntington of Berkley, California; two brothers, James Wright McRae, of Jackson, J.McRae of Vicksburg; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Louis A. - Jr., James King, John - , Charles King, Sam H. - and Boswell Peacock.
