The book "George Hayes of Windsor and his descendants" references her burial in the crypt of the "Old Centre Church", New Haven. It is unknown if this burial location still exists or was one of the many burials moved to the Grove Stree Cemetery. The transcription record in the book "Inscriptions on tombstones in New Haven, erected prior to 1800" is as follows:
"M. M. S.
Mrs Rebekah Hays
the amiable & virtuous consort
of Capt. EZEKIEL HAYS
& daughter of Col. JOHN RUSSEL
late of Br'nford, departed
this Life May 27th 1773 in
the 51st year of her age.
Her children rise, and call
her blessed. Her Husband
also praiseth her."1
