Burnham- Clarence A. Flood, 82, died peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Bangor. He was born on September 22, 1929, in Palermo, Maine, the son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Peabody) Flood. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He was employed for over 46 years at Ethan Allen Furniture as a supervisor.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He had a great ability to site guns and was a sharp shooter. One of his favorite past times was playing Hi-Low Jack with his family.
He is survived by four children; Mary Poirier and husband Gerald of Saco, Jane Brann, Regina Basford and husband Bruce and Wade Flood and wife Christine, all of Burnham; special son-in-law, Russell Huff and companion Cammie Bickford; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Flood of Madison, Elizabeth Hanley and husband Robert of Rome and Harold Flood of Burnham; and several nieces and nephews, who lovingly called him "Unkie".
BURNHAM -- Wendell B. Braley Sr., 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Woodlawn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Skowhegan.
He was born in Burnham on March 28, 1919, the son of Bert and Grace (Bemis) Braley.
Wendell was educated in the Burnham schools. He married the former Beulah M. Ingersol in 1938 and they resided in Burnham and raised their children.
He was in explosives handling for the U.S. Coast Guard. He was self-employed as a woodsman for many years until he had a tragic accident and then was employed in a shoe factory in Newport.
Wendell was a self-taught carpenter and mechanic. He could build and repair just about anything. He loved the outdoors, especially Mount Katahdin at Baxter State Park where he loved to hike. He also loved the Maine coast, where he would dig for clams and then steam them over an open fire.
Wendell was an active member of the Newport Church of Christ until he was admitted to Woodlawn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center due to ill health.
Wendell was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Beulah; his son Jimmy; a grandson, Doug, a great-grandson, Derek; a stepmother, Sadie; stepfather, Frederick Sr.; sisters, Elvena, Lucille, and Adeline; and brothers, Harold, Francis, and Fredrick Jr. "Jughead."
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine and her husband, Buddy, Jane, Mary and her friend, Freeman; sons, Wink and his wife, Cheryl, Matthew and his wife, Ellen, Jonathan, Jody and his wife, Debbie, and Timmy and his companion, Heather; grandchildren, Danny, Randy, Kathy, Scott, Wendy, Michael, Penny, Julie, Joe, Freeman, Stacy, Anthony, Melissa, Jeremy and Brandon; sisters, Eleanor, Hilda and Amelia; brothers, Tommy and Steven; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
We love you Dad and Grampie.
At the family's request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will take place at Reynolds Cemetery in Burnham in the spring.

Elvena V. (Braley) Fall died at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Nov. 24th at the age of 86. Elvena was born and raised in Burnham, Maine and has been a resident of Melrose for over 65 years. She was a homemaker, a crossing guard in Melrose for a few years and worked as a clerk at Grant's Department Store in Melrose for several years.
Elvena was the wife of the late Roy H. Fall. Mother of Roy H. Fall Jr. & his wife Pauline of Melrose and the late Robert H. Fall & Nancy C. Richard. Sister of Wendall Braley & Adeline Ready both of Maine. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Nov. 28th at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 3-7PM. DETROIT - Adeline Mildred Ready, 82, of Detroit, passed away Nov. 25, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus, Waterville. She was born March 13, 1926, in Burnham, daughter of Bert and Grace (Bemis) Braley.
She attended Reynolds Corner School, Burnham and in May 1946, she married John W. Ready Sr. of Detroit. Adeline was a devoted wife and mother, and she and John raised three sons and a daughter.
She greatly loved being outdoors watching birds and wildlife. Adeline especially enjoyed traveling around Maine and had many wonderful memories of Baxter State Park and the Moosehead Lake area. She also liked to do a little gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and she had a special knack for reviving all types of plants that others had given up on.
Adeline attended Church of Christ in Pittsfield and Unity for many years, and was a longtime member of Maine Society of Mayflower Descendents. She often spoke of the hard life she lived during the Great Depression and how it affected her life. She thought highly of her neighbor, Doris Neal, and also her niece, Carolyn Howes. Adeline's single greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and her special cat, Kitty.
She is survived by her children, John Ready Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Verona Island, Ronald Ready and his wife, Sheila, of Windsor, Daniel Ready and his wife, Wendy, of Detroit, and Roberta Bubar and her husband, Donald, of Burnham; her brother, Wendell Braley of Skowhegan; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1996; and her granddaughter, Kristen Ready Lessard, in 2004.
A memorial service began at 2 p.m. on Nov. 28, with Paul Westin, Unity Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at Detroit Village Cemetery, Route 220, Detroit.
