SCHMALING Frederick Charles Schmaling, age 73, a resident of Greenwich, died Monday, October 3, 2005. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Port Chester Electrical Construction Corporation as an electrician until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Schmaling was the founder and editor of the Westchester Legionnaire, a monthly newspaper with circulation up to 10,000, which for 38 years won state and national awards. Mr. Schmaling is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arline Steinle Schmaling of Greenwich; children, Karla and George Boone of Sutton, Vt., Kris and Nancy Schmaling of Granger Ind., David and Suzanne Schmaling of Southbury, Fred Jr. and Vicki Schmaling of Amherst, Ohio, Teri and Chris Genrti of Apex, N.C.; and 11 grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2005, in Craft Memorial Home, Inc., 40 Leicester Street, Port Chester, N.Y. Funeral service will be at 12 noon Thursday, October 6, 2005 in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, N.Y.
